The unremitting and practically unfathomable abuse of Fox Rox continues, as the 11-year-old is set to go under the whip for the 117th time in the first race at Presque Isle today (1:30). This time around, Mark Hoffman is doubling…
The “Radnor Hunt Races” were run in Malvern, PA, May 21 – which, as you’ll see, was a very hot day. Here are some notes from the stewards. Race 1: 6-year-old Tom “collapsed on the course,” revived with “lots of…
The stewards at Ruidoso have fined jockey Juan Rivas (amount not important; he still gets to keep his job) for “excessive use of the whip” on Rigged Right Saturday. It was excessive, the stewards say, because the 3-year-old was “a…
Some odds and ends… In the 4th at Churchill Friday, Vicki Rose “went wrong” and was eventually “vanned off.” Nothing unusual there, of course. But there’s also this: Vicki “was fractious in the starting gate.” Perhaps the two-year-old – two-year-old…

Some notes from three tracks Saturday. Most of these were “trials” for two-year-olds. (A note on the “bumps”: There were plenty of the run-of-the-mill variety; I am only relaying the more egregious.) At Laurel Brown (Utah), Cbf Cash Man “fell…
More steeplechase madness, from the Stewards’ Reports: At the “Middleburg Spring Races” in Virginia April 23, Love of the Bay “fell at the 13th fence” in race 3; Elusive Soul “fell after hitting the top of the fence” in race…
Rich Strike’s trainer, Eric Reed, on the “controversy” at the end of the Derby Saturday (from an interview with Today): “I want to clear that up. The outrider’s job at the end of the race is to help get the…
