Here’s how much Racing cares: With the Northeast mired in a deep freeze for much of the past week-plus, the wits at Parx (near Philly) decided to run races anyway yesterday. In the first, with the track condition listed on…
I have confirmed the following kills in back-to-back days at Gulfstream: 2-year-old Time in Motion in the 7th Friday. As one racing site puts it, this was “his career debut” – the intimation being, of course, “what a shame.” 3-year-old…
Multiple sources have confirmed that Magician’s Bullet is dead after “breaking down” in the 10th at Gulfstream Friday. He was five years old. Yet again, the Penn National chartwriter offers some uncommon insight: In the 6th last night, Flashy Baron…
On the official race chart (Equibase) for the 4th at Los Alamitos Sunday, 4-year-old Bullet Miss was a “pulled up, vanned off.” Merely “precautionary,” the apologists are wont to say. Well. The most recent Stewards Minutes for that track have…
The Equibase chart note for Jury Wise in the 6th at Mahoning yesterday: “trailed into the turn, fell midway on the turn and was euthanized.” Jury Wise was a 7-year-old mare who was being raced for the 44th time; she…

I have confirmed that The First Star collapsed – “just fell over,” says a witness – and died during the running of the 2nd at Northfield Park Saturday. She was four. This, from the most recent Stewards Minutes at Los…
In the 4th at Remington Friday, the chartwriter (Equibase) had Tanner’s Popsicle as “stopped badly, pulled up, collapsed, vanned off.” We now know that the 5-year-old is dead – with two different sources calling it a “heart attack.” Tanner’s had…
This from the NYS Gaming Commission on 3-year-old Momma’s Moonshine at Finger Lakes: “injured while training on November 16; waited for second opinion; euthanized December 1 – condylar fractures both front legs.” Fractures in both front legs and they waited…
From the most recent Stewards Minutes at Golden Gate: “NOVEMBER 26 – RACING FATALITY Sideman was injured at the 3/16 pole during the first race on the main track and was euthanized.” Sideman was three; this was his third race.…
