Back in July, I reported this ruling from Indiana: “While in the barn area of Hoosier Park on the morning of June 1, licensee Dale Hiteman (below) was observed on video striking a prone horse [Princess Laa] with a line…
I’ve long been suspicious of the New York Racing Association’s (NYRA) attendance numbers for Saratoga. No doubt Saratoga is successful, one of but a handful of tracks that is. But the data for the recent meet only serves to further…
As previously relayed, I am very concerned that more and more states will use the establishment of the obscenely-named Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) as an excuse not to do their jobs, or at least the part that we’re…
Sunday, I promised a post on NYRA’s desperate attempts to marginalize us on Travers Day. Well, this week, the Capital Region’s foremost columnist, Chris Churchill, has taken the story on. Chris is a terrific journalist, so I’ll yield to him:…

A recent ruling from Indiana: “While driving Rollinwitdaponyzzz at Hoosier Park on Jul 14, driver Jordan Ross did welt the horse. For this violation Mr. Ross is suspended three days. Mr. Ross was also cautioned that any further incident of…
A recent “Letter to the Editor” at BloodHorse: “I am in the twilight of a career spanning more than 40 years practicing veterinary medicine at racetracks. With great sadness I question whether any of today’s vet school graduates – if…
A recent post on the “Harness Racing Tomorrow” FB page: “Classic Landing, a two-year-old trotting colt, recently dropped dead [our post here] shortly after crossing the Meadowlands finish line. Although the last to cross, he presented a valiant effort. That…
