A recent ruling from Indiana:
“While driving Rollinwitdaponyzzz at Hoosier Park on Jul 14, driver Jordan Ross did welt the horse. For this violation Mr. Ross is suspended three days. Mr. Ross was also cautioned that any further incident of this type would lead to increased penalties.”
Yes, Jordan Ross leaving welts on his horse – again (here, here). And “warned” about “increased penalties” – again. Here is but the recent history:
Apr 1, Hoosier Park: “Jordan Ross did cause welts while whipping the horse.” Fined $200, no suspension.
Jun 3, Hoosier Park: “Jordan Ross did cause welts while whipping the horse.” Fined $300, no suspension.
Jun 7, Hoosier Park: “Jordan Ross did cause welts while whipping the horse.” Fined $300, no suspension.
Jun 14, Hoosier Park: “For multiple violations of the whipping rule – causing visible injury; welts – driver Jordan Ross has been placed on probation for the remainder of the 2023 race meet at Hoosier Park.”
Here is the relevant section of the Indiana animal-cruelty statutes:
“‘Abuse’ means to knowingly or intentionally beat, torment, injure, or otherwise harm an animal. A person who knowingly or intentionally abuses a vertebrate animal commits cruelty to an animal, a Class A misdemeanor.”
Again, I have documented four separate incidents of Ross leaving welts – just since April. As the Indiana Racing Commission clearly doesn’t care, let’s make the local prosecutor’s office aware of this cruelty and ask, respectfully, that they act:

I have taught several horses to harness, never used a whip ever! Appreciate the posting of this video showing the mean ,heavy whipping of those harness horses.Have also worked at a harness Standard bred horse farm outside of Seattle ,Wash. Those horses were so forgiving & of good temperament. At the time the owner sent his horses to race in California or the east coast. This driver needs to be punished much more severely than just those paltry fines levied against him up to this point. This driver is to represent the US overseas? Not a good representative for the US as to how we treat sentient living beings.
The woman who is interviewing Jordan Ross acts like he’s some kind of a superstar the way she is interviewing him. He should be in jail for violating Animal Welfare Codes.

Dear Prosecutor’s Office:
Below is a summary of what has been very weak enforcement of animal abuse charges by the Indiana Racing Commission. This guy Jordan Ross clearly doesn’t care about the weak penalties imposed, since he keeps on doing it. If it’s in your power to help the horses abused by this individual, please help.
