RIP
Glad to see the Standardbreds being reported & covered by Patrick as well.
Wanda, we once worked at a Standardbred farm across Puget sound from Seattle. The stallion at that farm was 1 of the kindest yet spirited horses we have worked with. The farm owner / operator was a hotel owner in downtown Seattle. The owner used to race them back east & in California at the time.We feel so sad that many of these kind & good tempered horses end up in Amish hands!
Fred & Joan, you’re right about the other so-called sports using horses as their primary tool. These 44 in Pennsylvania are the ones that we know about. Who knows how many horses have been disappeared from the racetracks in Pennsylvania because they were not viable for racing somehow? Who knows how many of the Standardbreds that go through the livestock auctions and kill pens in states like Oklahoma and Texas are from Pennsylvania?
Wanda, all of racing & most all equine sports we now find aggravating & disappointing with all the abuses now becoming more widely known. 44 horses already dead in just 1 state! The year is barely 1/2 over.
Parx is so depressing and disgusting.
