Through a FOIA request to the North Dakota Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kill at Chippewa Downs on June 23:
“fracture distal limb”
(Please note: North Dakota is among the lightest of racing-states, with but a handful of live-racing dates each year.)
Through a request to the North Dakota Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following deaths at North Dakota tracks in 2016:
Tempting Eyes, June 11, Chippewa 2, “horse caught reins in rail and snapped neck – died at site” (The raceday chart merely said “lost rider.”)
Rita’s Resort, July 24, North Dakota 4, “fractured proximal sesamoid bones, ruptured fetlock joint and flexor tendons – euthanized” (The raceday chart merely said “DNF.”)
It should be noted that North Dakota is among the lightest of racing states, with but 14 days of live racing in 2016.
There can be no justification for the killing of animals for $2 bets. End it. Now.
