SJ Kennedy …your comments are dead on correct. And, yes ….things ARE getting even worse.
The look on that poor horse’s face in the photo you’ve posted here. His distended nostrils, gaping mouth, and frightened eyes….in pain, can’t catch his breath….people have become desensitized to seeing horses’ mouths open like this. Even the statue of Secretariat at the Kentucky Horse Park depticts the horse with his mouth wide open. It’s not normal. It’s not pretty. It’s a horse in distress.
Poor horse, Grand Deception, that description should be used against the upcoming Preakness Stakes accompanied by an autopsy photo of a 2 year old colt or filly! The reality of horseracing is that yesteryear mobsters specialized in murder to control the bootleg industry, and gun muscled Las Vegas (a forlorn desert town) into a gambling mecca.
In these contemporary times, we still have casinos, corporate and senate gangsters, drug runners, and most tragically the infamous massacre of race horses across the globe. Kentucky and other criminal states profit on the sufferings and agonies of horses are just as contemptible of those who once dominated and ruled Illinois, Florida, and New York in the Dirty Thirties.
Kentucky was the state that should have taken action when Alydar was brutally murdered, but no, this state along with Maryland, New York et al are blind and dumb to every thing except the numbers on their bank accounts. I cry not only for the horses, but for the moral deterioration of America, the world, and for the current generation who are so absorbed in cell phones and computers do not realize they are doomed.
A world without compassion for others, respect for justice and compassion for all creatures is worthless. The days when horses die in agony and are considered commodities is the forerunner of humans also being disposed of at the whim of pernicious nations. In the last war a total of 57 million people perished….every day horses are doped, brutalized, killed in their stalls, at the gate or in the paddock, but elected officials squander tax collected billions on grandiose renovations, but not a dime on justice and protection for helpless horses. Heart wrenching just heart wrenching!
How many people in this industry say that this is the “only thing they know” suggesting various things such as…???
