Through a FOIA request to the province of Ontario, I have confirmed the following kills there in 2023. (This is the second time we’ve reported on Canada; it will now be a regular thing.) Please note, however, that Ontario is home to some 15 tracks (three flat, the rest harness); we received death data from less than half. Even worse, the Commission did not forward a single stall death. Not a one. In short, the following toll is woefully incomplete.

Glad to see you`re now including Canadian tracks as well. Many people are going to Canadian tracks from US. These in juries are just grotesque to these horses. We know exactly what some of the joints are from our equine studies 40+ years ago from our university course work.
Horseracing is cruelty to horses everywhere it exists. There is no doubt in my mind that hundreds of Canadian horses were loaded up and hauled to the nearest slaughterhouse in Canada as well. It’s a sickening business.
