Notes: Horses who are injured so badly they require an ambulance to get off the track more often than not end up dead, as borne out by our subsequent FOIA reporting. “Bled”: indicates pulmonary hemorrhage. “DNF”: unable to finish the race.   1. PROVENANCE finished third and lost a shoe. I’m not sure if the shoe came off before or after crossing the finish line but that is the reason for using the equine ambulance to transport him off the track. He is only two years old and trained by Bob Baffert. Sad.
