Los Alamitos: Three 2-Year-Olds Killed Racing Sunday; 9-Year-Old Dead at Yonkers

Gamblingterror, says the NYS Gaming Commission, was killed in the 2nd race at Yonkers last night – no other details other than “euthanized.” Complicit in the 9-year-old’s death: trainer/driver Pat Lachance and the state of NY for allowing this moribund industry to persist through tens of millions of dollars in annual subsidies.

And: Yesterday, I reported on kills in consecutive races at Los Alamitos Sunday. Turns out, there was another two races prior: B Ratifyed. Like the two other victims, B was two years old. So, that’s three babies killed on the same day, at the same track. Wake up, California.

  1. Jdoe, I agree that nothing will be done to change the carnage, that anything they say they will do or have done will result in a different outcome, that horses will continue to be abused to death on routine basis.
Anytime this industry blows smoke, it is to DECEIVE the people who are still gullible or just not well informed of the facts.

  2. There are no corrective actions that will ‘fix’ Los Alamitos.
Cheap claimers running on that track will keep breaking down.
The can have 10 vets say the horses are all sound, but the results will show otherwise.

  3. The California Horse Racing Board is allegedly going to make “safety” a higher priority at Los Alamitos now that three horses were killed in one day, Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Los Alamitos racecourse. Of course, horses will still be routinely mistreated there. There will allegedly be a little bit more oversight.

Horse racing is Animal Cruelty all day every day. It needs to be recognized as the hideous crime that it is.

  4. Newsflash: HISA is monitoring the excessive abuse and neglect of Thoroughbreds by Rudy Rodriguez. What actually happens as a result remains to be seen. Since other trainers have gotten away with so much, it is questionable if he has backing from the NYRA to continue with business as usual.

  5. Patrick Battuello, HW, and supporters are on my gratitude list this Thanksgiving, too.

  6. The people who are hiding behind the curtain of the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority will never disclose this information of how many horses and which horses are fatally injured by exploiting them for racing and gambling. So thank you, Patrick Battuello, for your diligence and fortitude to research and report on the egregious cruelties that occur way more often than the average person would have a clue about.
