  1. Wanda, We miss Gina Powell, as regards those 2 year olds breaking down, this unrelenting carnage to such young horses needs to be stopped! It is our sincere hope that the economics of this “Crooked. Crummy, Gamboling Game does it in.

  2. Thank you, Marie and Fred & Joan. It is just as Gina Powell used to say over and over on this blog in the past: There is no amount of money that a horse can earn that can earn them a retirement in this industry.
If earnings of $801,457 isn’t enough to earn a retirement, and that is not counting the stud fees someone made off of him, then what is enough?!
The so-called Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance is obviously not working for GUYS REWARD after he earned over three-quarters of a million dollars.

  3. I just looked up Guys Reward. Sad that he won some stakes races, and it still didn’t earn him a safe retirement. Par for the course for the TB industry. As of 2022, Swifty Farms in Indiana was standing him. Maybe they need a call or 2 to wake them up and maybe do the right thing by a stallion they exploited. Or maybe a call the Indiana Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners. But I wouldn’t be surprised if none of them did right by this poor guy.

  4. I would like to know who used Guys Reward as a stud.
He still has offspring racing this year.
Grand Reward offspring are hard to come by anymore. Wonder if he was subfertile.

  5. Just looked Guys Reward up. He should have had frequent trailer miles with all the east coast tracks he ran in! He was trained the last race by one of the worst trainers there is! Poor horse! Thanks Wanda for informing us all.

  6. Wanda, I wished I lived closer! I`d come & pick Guys reward up with my mothers farms large open divider less trailer! This is unspeakably sad. Hes not even that old.

  7. A Thoroughbred stallion is available and listed on a Facebook post by Stroud Oklahoma Kill Pen Horses. His name is GUYS REWARD (KY) and he was foaled April 24, 2007. He was raced and earned $801,457. His racing connections listed are as follows:
    Breeder: Haymarket Farm,
    Owner: Michael J. Bruder,
    Trainer: Dale L. Romans
His Tag No. at Stroud Oklahoma Kill Pen Horses is 133 and his price is $1,750.
