Cyclone State, says the NYS Gaming Commission, “suffered a dislocated humerus” training at Belmont Tuesday and was euthanized. He was three years old. Also reported: Racine “developed a 104 fever May 29” while stabled at Saratoga and was euthanized four days later. She was but two years old and being prepped for her first race. In fact, her most recent training session had come just four days before the onset of that fatal fever.
And, in addition to the kill Wednesday, the following have been injured and ambulanced off over the first three days of the five-day-long “Belmont Stakes Racing Festival” at Saratoga: Bint Al Dandy (in gate); Faded Jeans (in gate); Princess Mischief; Mystifying.
So, we already have two confirmed kills at Saratoga, with a likelihood that one or more of the above will soon join those ranks, and 17 kills thus far this year at Belmont/Aqueduct.
It’s not complicated, folks:

I cannot stand to watch horse racing, to watch the suffering horses being forced to run.
The ego is a powerful thing. A majority of people genuinely don’t like to lose money and watch horses die, but if it means an opportunity to bloviate and pose for selifies in fancy hats, then they can look the other way.
Hopefully, there will be one more racing fan and another and another who stops filtering out the every day cruelty to the horses and makes the choice to stop being willfully blinded to the abuse, the inherent cruelty and the brutality to the horses that causes so much death to horses in this inhumane so-called sport.
