This industry revolves around starting young colts and fillies under saddle at the age of about 18 months. This starts the repetitive stress that causes degenerative joint disease as well as many other painful abnormalities in the horses. The so-called “road to the Kentucky Derby” is littered with the injured bodies of young, immature, underdeveloped Thoroughbreds. This is the basis of horseracing. It is not right but they don’t care about what is right. It’s abuse, not horsemanship. Doping the horses to mask their pain and doping the horses to enhance performance is part of the sick game of using horses as gambling chips.
there should be a racing age to stop young horses from racing i had a 6 year old and was told that she could not be raced for the first time because of her age she did go throw all her training but the answer was still no this was at the being of of her 6 year that was as of jan 1 her real birth date was in may so maybe this would stop some of the bone issues also their real mature horse that should be ready for racing
It’s obvious that the veterinarians know what to expect from the everyday cruelty to horses exploited as gambling chips. Can you imagine what the veterinarians could be thinking about how cruel and inhumane horseracing is, seeing it all a zillion times, knowing the blood and the guts and the gore that inherently goes with racing, and then thinking they won’t stop participatibg in this gruesome treachery against horses because it’s a paycheck?
