Diamond Collector Finally Confirmed Killed at Aqueduct – On January 11

Diamond Collector was injured and vanned off at Aqueduct way back on Jan 11. Since then, for all this time, she has been listed by the Gaming Commission as but a “racing incident.” Yesterday, she was finally confirmed as dead – with the date of death Jan 11. Please. This is not the first time the competence of the Commission has been called into question. Which of course leads to the obvious follow-up: How many dead horses are being missed? Diamond was four and this was her 20th time under the whip.

  1. I contacted NYRA multiple times to ask about her, in multiple ways, and was ignored. While not surprising, it shows how much the HISA touted transparency is a sham. So sad for this horse, and not surprised that Rob Atras didn’t disclose it either. I saw one of his horses break down in person and the smoke show he and his wife produced after was vomit-worthy, and only because the horse was famous.

  2. The New York State Gaming Commission has a Mission Statement that mentions the word “credibility” but knowing that they do what they do, I would say they have failed to fulfill or achieve their mission.
Whether they are incompetent or being straight up dishonest, their failure to disclose facts in a timely manner compromises their credibility. They are paving their own path to their own demise or downfall.
