According to the chart, Midnight Jostar “slipped and fell” in the 5th at Santa Anita Saturday. The early word had the 5-year-old as “ok.” Still, the Daily Racing Form reports he “will undergo more extensive tests later this week.” Given the Stronach Group’s new save-at-all-costs business model – even if that “saving” results in an extended suffering to the horse (and eventual death anyway: here, here) – and given the unknown whereabouts of a slew of horses who were injured on Cal tracks over the past few years, would it surprise anyone if Midnight ends up dead?
Here is how that “slip and fall” looked:
The vets are considering him “unsound”. This race was that downhill dangerous race that I’ve said before should be totally eliminated from any racetrack along with all the rest of them as well.
There was horse racing on TV over the Easter weekend. I can’t stand watching it, so I quickly changed the channel. When are the nincompoops attending horse racing ever going to be awakened from their stupor?

By “ok” do they mean that no matter how much the horse is suffering in any way, shape or form, he’s still alive? Or, could the horse be dead and still be “ok” by the extremely low standards of Animal Welfare (and Business Conduct) in California and everywhere else morally depraved people engage in this egregious cruelty to horses?
The Stronach Group should be arrested and put in jail.
Wanda, from what I’ve read the horse got up and ran and was corralled by the outrider.
Thank you, Nancy. If he is deemed unsound by a veterinarian, he might not be “ok” to race again.
I hope they don’t force him to run and use the excuse that has absolutely no logic whatsoever that they expect him to “sound up” which was the assinine excuse that was used by a race trainer in the past.
Sorry, I forgot that trainer’s name, but the horse in question was FATALLY INJURED because of that level of assinine thinking.
