Racehorses Killed at Prairie Meadows, 2017

Through a FOIA request to the Iowa Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kills at Prairie Meadows in 2017. Please note, however, that the Commission did not forward any training deaths, so this, surely, is but a partial reckoning.

“suspensory and sesamoids”

Cowboy Prince, May 19, Prairie, race 4
“suspensory and sesamoids”

Chicken Noodle, June 4, Prairie, race 3
“cannon”

Radiant Angel, June 30, Prairie, race 9
“condylar”

Cooper Road, July 21, Prairie, race 5

Dont Gang Up On Me, August 6, Prairie, race 6

  1. So sorry for all racehorses who suffered, and subsequently died for this legitimized animal cruelty.
While racehorses are being maimed, whipped/beaten and/or dropping dead in the dirt the apologists continue to claim that they are treated “royally.”
Go stick your heads in some manure piles at San Luis Rey Downs where I’m sure it’s plentiful.
Perhaps it can shit away your delusion.
