Yesterday…
In the 1st at Santa Anita, Mici’s Express, says the chart, “sustained an injury then was transported off via ambulance.” We now know (CHRB) he is dead. He was five years old. His loving owners – Randy Exelby, Tom Mayo, and Clay Sides – had also offered him up for sale at a mere $5K (cheap for any track, but especially for SA) just minutes before he was killed. Also complicit: trainer Antonio Garcia, jockey Armando Ayuso.
Back east, So Spirited, four, “appeared in distress” in the 1st at Finger Lakes. He, too, is dead: “[multiple] fractures in the LF, euthanized,” says the Gaming Commission. His exploiters: owner/trainer Linda Dixon, owner Hector Alejandro, jockey Jacqueline Davis.

All of these people should be charged with Animal Cruelty at the very least! But, no, this is a corrupt industry that has been allowed to “police” itself. Hence, the brutality against the horses is just another day at the racetrack.
