According to the chart, this befell Rivers Run Fast in the 4th at Thistledown yesterday: “suffered an injury past the wire, fell…and was removed from the racetrack via equine ambulance.” Below is how it looked. While I have nothing firm yet, that combination of words – injured/fell/ambulance – almost always ends in death.

I happened to catch this race live yesterday, and the only positive thing I can say is that he was standing squarely on all 4 legs when the horses were coming back to be unsaddled, with the vets by him. Praying for just a trip and fall, but even that is brutal on a horse, especially one that fell on his nose and forehead.
I haven’t watched races for a long while, and sure enough- the one time I decide to watch…
We think the same Wanda. It looked like to us the right foreleg broke down. Sad, sad.
It looks like his right front leg and/or pastern gave out and could not support his weight.
This is absolutely Animal Cruelty!
