4-year-old Admiral Mo going down in the 8th at Delaware yesterday. Watch to the end to see that despite one of the “athletes” being vanned off the track – perhaps dead or about to be dead – the Winner’s Circle celebration carried on. Also, the announcer made sure he got in all the crucial betting numbers. Disgusting people. Disgusting industry.

Agree, Wanda. How many horses have to die before television news decides this is a story worth covering? Let them show the public exactly what happens when a racehorse goes down complete with the announcer calling out the betting numbers. That juxtaposition tells the story more powerfully than any editorial ever could. Then show the Winner’s Circle celebration. The public has a right to see what happens behind the glamour, wagering, and carefully packaged racing spectacle. If the industry can continue the show while one of its “athletes” is being hauled away in a potentially catastrophic condition, the television news media should be asking why. TV NEWS: Don’t look away.
This should be on the television news! This is basically the same type of thing that was happening at Santa Anita in 2019.
