2-Year-Old Killed at Churchill Yesterday

Flip Flop Freak, says the chart, fell and was “taken off in the ambulance” yesterday at Churchill. In fact, he is dead – or as BloodHorse puts it, “the colt could not be saved.” (It’s a very rare occurrence for the racing press to report on kills; this one was only addressed because the complicit jockey, Florent Geroux, landed in the ICU.) The “colt” was two.

  1. Godolphin won National Breeder and Owner awards from the Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association and they have had young, not fully developed, horses sired by NYQUIST injured fairly recently.
I have not been keeping track of how many young Thoroughbreds that Godolphin is responsible for injuring and killing, but it is a no-brainer that they are responsible for a very high number of horses being injured and killed. They are not going to stop until the money runs out and there are no tax advantages for this Self-Righteous cruelty to horses.

  2. This baby was foaled February 11,2024. After being pressed to the brink because he was winning, there was a serious injury to his right front leg. Florent Geroux to the hospital after the fall. When are these people going to see the light and realize the beautiful horses suffer beyond belief for what? A bunch of $2 bets and a bunch of nitwits who witness this and aren’t fazed.

  3. Forcing underdeveloped colts and fillies to gallop carrying the weight of a saddle and rider with a whip (and most likely an illegal electric shocking device) as though they were fully developed horses is not horsemanship.
It is morally depraved cruelty to demand that long yearlings and 2-year-olds perform as though they were fully developed mature horses.
It is inhumane to use any type of device on horses that shocks them with electricity! The undercover video of D. Wayne Lucas and jockey Gary Stevens laughing about how the electric shocking devices sounded when going off in the starting gates was an eye opener for me! Forget about sportsmanship because this is Animal Cruelty driven by pure greed!
The so-called “road to the Kentucky Derby” has always meant and will continue to mean that hundreds, and thousands counting past years, of Thoroughbred colts will be treated inhumanely and injured in the pursuit of the money associated with gambling and the pursuit of the purse money.
Most of these underdeveloped colts will be injured along the way and won’t be a gambling interest; therefore all of the racing press will automatically forget about them and focus on the next few colts in the spotlight. These young sentient beings are only gambling chips to rich and heartless people.
