The following horses were injured in U.S. races last week and had to be removed from the track by “equine ambulance.” While fates remain unknown at this time, please know we will eventually get kill confirmations on many if not most via our FOIA reporting.

One Improbable “bled from the nostrils” at Parx
Polecat “injured herself in starting gate” at Parx
Practicallyelusive “returned bleeding from nostrils” at Thistledown
Krissi N “fell, DNF” at Timonium
Fast Destination “bled” at Gulfstream
Sapphire Beach “bled” at Kentucky

Note: “bled” is shorthand for pulmonary hemorrhage.

  1. You would think a public shaming would be in order for this kind of abuse of horses for gambling and purse money.
    The racing industry press publicly shame themselves and the whole horse exploiting and killing machine (without being aware of it) when they brag about running a horse twice in one week.
    The horse named CAROLINE ST. BEAT won at Saratoga and then in Kentucky one week later.
    You may have read the racing industry press articles about the trainer and the horse. Of course, the only thing that is important to these money-grubbing people is the fact that the horse won both races.
    The fact that the horse would be sore and aching and need time to recuperate from the race at Saratoga and the ordeal of being shipped from New York to Kentucky means logically that the trainer would have had some super painkilling drugs and etc. to inject into this horse in order to keep the horse in a running condition plus to win in Kentucky.
    It’s amazing how much abuse these horses can take, but you know they can only take so much before they break down.

  2. Adios jojo just won the long acre mile. Curious what ended up happening. He pulled up and stopped about 4f into the race.
