Over the course of just 5 days (Aug 16-23) at Ellis, 10 horses were scratched by the regulatory vet – i.e., their exploiters had every intention of racing them – for being “injured” or “unsound,” another 14 by private vets for being “injured” or “ill,” and 3 horses who were “claimed” (bought) prior to races were subsequently returned to their sellers because they finished said races physically compromised in one way or another.
In addition, say the stewards:
“Camphor was injured in the paddock.”
“French Mistress returned lame.”
And then there were these two kills which we had previously confirmed:
“Royal Majesty was pulled up abruptly and required the horse ambulance. It was determined that the horse had suffered a catastrophic injury to his left foreleg, and he was humanely euthanized.”
“Nyquist Frequency was injured, continued to run, and was caught by the outriders. After diagnostics, it was determined that the gelding had suffered a catastrophic injury to his right foreleg, and he was humanely euthanized.”
Horse racing is inhumane …. A killing sport! These horses are raced at too young an age. So sad that these deaths are still happening.
It is contemptible for these heartlessly cruel and vile people to send racehorses out to the racetrack to suffer fatal injuries and to purposely cause horses to die.
To say “it was determined” that the horse/gelding suffered a catastrophic injury “after diagnostics” is absolutely contemptible!!!!!
These heartlessly cruel and vile people have the moral turpitude to send a horse out to the racetrack to suffer and die on purpose. There is nothing humane about how these vile people mistreated their horses and knowingly play Russian Roulette with the horses’ lives.
These horse-abusing people have caused horses to suffer fatal injuries for decades and still act like they wouldn’t know the horse’s leg was broken and dangling by the skin without “diagnostics”!
