Three days ago, I posted the below video of Absolute Domination’s horrific fall at Horseshoe Saturday. Here is the fully expected update from the stewards: “Absolute Domination suffered a catastrophic injury to its RF leg [that would be the dangling one] toward the end of the race and was euthanized on the track.” The it was three.
As if we need more reminders of how morally bankrupt this industry truly is, the stewards added: “Rider L.D. Martinez was checked out by medical personnel and was ok to ride the remainder of the card.” Yes, after a kill that should have shaken everyone at that track to their very cores and sent them all home for the day, the “game” played on – 11 more races to be specific. How do they sleep at night?
Euthanize the horse racing industry. It is financially broken beyond repair and has always been in an ethical and moral coma. Fund something else with funds from the equally depraved “get something for nothing” casinos and lotteries. Fund a policeman, fireman, teacher, soldier, etc. Fund social security, pay down the national debt, anything. Why spend all that revenue on the promotion of animal abuse and the illusion of possible riches, while contributing nothing to the betterment of society? In the end society gets what it asks for, so it needs to be choosing wisely.
1/4 races! The absolutely most dangerous distance for horses to race because of all the speed demanded at once early on. When that happened to us as it did once we did not ride for several days let alone again on the same card. Horses are not its! They have personalities & opinions.
