The “Equine Ambulance” Report

The following horses were injured in U.S. races last week and had to be removed from the track by “equine ambulance.” While fates remain unknown at this time, please know we will eventually get kill confirmations on many if not most via our FOIA reporting.

Gunner Glory at Thistledown
Quivira Crane at Penn
Majestic Flame at Mountaineer
Indy Magic at Charles Town
Sum of It All at Horseshoe
Eddiemush at Penn
Gillespie at Delta (also “bled”)
Wl Hiclass Gentleman at Retama
Bullet Prooff at Retama
McClusky at Arapahoe
Franny B Dove at Delta (also “bled”)
Bigg Tymer Stone at Delta
Tune Timer at Saratoga

And then there were these, not reported as ambulanced but…

Hardly Ever Better “bled” at Charles Town
Omaha Eight “struck fallen foe [the fatally-injured Cattin], DNF” at Parx
Easter Millie “hit gate, DNF” at Monmouth

Note: “bled” is shorthand for pulmonary hemorrhage.

For any new confirmed kills from last week, see our running annual list.

  1. DESIGNATED RUNNER is last on the list of Also Rans on Horse Racing Nation. That’s a bad sign when they put the horse last on the list of Also Rans. Sometimes it means the horse is dead.

  2. Don`t forget to include the poor 3 year old filly at Emerald this Saturday after having a problem right out of the gate. Harlow was the trainer & Erickson was the owner. The chart says “Bucked” We think that`s a lie! We saw the horse. Designated runner did not look like she was bucking. There was clearly something wrong with her. Chart says she walked off.
