The fallen colt jumps to his feet and continues running (for how long?) while the jockey continues to stay on the ground. Since this is a low tier racetrack, the racing industry press won’t bother themselves to report on this tragedy.
According to a racing industry press article, “racing’s biggest problem” is “regulatory vets scratching sound horses”. Isn’t that special?!
So forcing extremely underdeveloped immature colts and fillies that are 18 months to 24 months of age to perform as though they were fully developed and physically matured horses and thereby causing the deteriorating conditions of the internal functions of the equine body to lead to Degenerative Joint Disease, hairline fractures, broken bones, ulcers, bleeding lungs is not the biggest problem in horse racing. How about that?!
Moral depravity knows no bounds.
Accidents derive from innocence. Horse racing destroys innocence, horse racing fails innocence and fails all that is natural and dignified in the lives of its equine victims. There is Nothing innocent about this industry, they are fully responsible for this youngster’s suffering and death.
Should be able to. But accidents do happen, on the racetrack, on the highway, etc.
Oh how terrible! We saw that race as it was happening. How sad that a 2 year old who should have had at least 25 more years of life to live is gone. We have Thoroughbreds who are 23 who still can run around as if there young horses. Especially when the weather changes from hot to cold temp.s. A rider should be able to avoid having their horse clip heels with proper guidance.
