4-Year-Old Killed at Delaware; HW in Harper’s Magazine

Crabcakes N Beer, I have confirmed, was killed in the 3rd race at Delaware last Thursday. He was four years old, and this was his 23rd time under the whip. To add insult to death, his loving people also had him “For Sale” (cheap: $5,000) the day he died. Among the complicit: Charles Blanford, Victor Carrasco, Raul Mena.

Also: The venerable Harper’s Magazine published a partial list (one for each month) of horses killed at Kentucky tracks in 2025, not only citing us as the source but adding the details we received through our FOIA. Pretty good.

  1. In the 4th race at Los Alamitos yesterday”Just Deal” clearly had a life ending injury in mid stretch.

The announcer enthustically declared that the winner had just “Pulverized” the opposition.

  2. That’s significant. Being cited by Harper’s is one thing, but the fact that they also incorporated the details obtained through your FOIA requests gives added credibility and visibility to the work. It shows that the reporting is influencing the broader public not only advocacy circles. The more mainstream publications document these deaths and the circumstances surrounding them, the harder it becomes for the industry to dismiss or obscure the issue. Well deserved recognition.
