Despite our best efforts (thanks to all who took the action), Big Hearted Factor was indeed put to the whip last night at Miles City – two days after his most recent race, his fourth race this month (that would be May 3-17), and his 107th overall.
Surprisingly, the Racing Board did get back to me ahead of the race: “Patrick, I have forwarded your concerns to the State Vet and the Presiding Stewards.” This morning, I replied, “They ran him anyway. Is there nothing the Board can do about this?”
While we await an answer, we are reaching out to the county prosecutor’s office, though with this being Montana – with very weak cruelty statutes – I’m not holding my breath. In the meantime, all I can say is this: Stanley Brewer, you are a horrible human being.

Thank God there’s an organization like yours! Horseracing is such a HUGE moneymaker, I always thought it would be impossible to abolish it or even make abusers ( which is everyone involved ) accountable. I just learned that you exist. I want to support your efforts. Please tell me how.

Third place finish for BIG HEARTED FACTOR was valued at $975.
In the chart notes, BIG BROTHER was distanced, eased in the stretch, and was walked off. Fifth place was valued at $187.
Patrick, do you have any information about why BIG BROTHER was “walked off”?
Among other things, it is so disgusting that they are trying to make it sound like it is okay to sweep ANIMAL CRUELTY under the rug in the chart notes. At least, they dropped the hint that something bad happened. You know that he was walked off as opposed to vanned off or “transported home” or some other disgusting euphemism.
BIG BROTHER was in 5th place from start to finish. I’m not sure if he was walking before the finish line or not. Kent Cross is the owner and trainer of BIG BROTHER.
