Another Canadian Track Shuttered

From the Good News Department…

Coming on the heels of Hastings’ permanent shuttering this past December (and Fraser Downs’ a few months prior to that), news comes that Rideau Carleton Raceway, a harness track in Ottawa, has followed suit. In a press release, track operator Hard Rock Hotel & Casino said: “Despite investing millions of dollars to rebuild the racing paddock and upgrade legacy infrastructure to better serve racing patrons, the long-term sustainability of the racing program could not be achieved.” Done, immediately. Excellent indeed.

  1. Interesting and telling that this happened immediately after infrastructure upgrades failed to reverse the trend. Another clear sign that the industry is collapsing under the weight of its own economics and public scrutiny.
