The NYS Gaming Commission has only just disclosed the training kill of Toga Dan at Belmont on Mar 7: “[multiple] LF fractures; due to poor prognosis, decision was made to euthanize.” Toga was three years old.

Fred and Joan, That’s EXACTLY what the organizers of Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association are all about; money, money, money, money, money, money, and more money — AND Power and Animal Cruelty without having to answer to the laws against abuse, neglect, torture, and killing of horses for big bucks.
I think people have to be as naive as a fourth grader, so to speak, to buy into that line about “having a dream” when it comes to running horses on racetracks and all the pomp and circumstance. It sounds like a title for a book for a fourth grader to me…😔
Wanda & Bonnie we have seen things at our now thankfully gone track that were truly evil done to horses by many people. When we 1st went to the track in 1977 we were truly naive. It took many years to wise up for us.The HBPA we always thought to be a Mafia type organization. As we later learned they were not really concerned with equine welfare. Only interested in how many $$ & benefits they could get for the big name owners in our state.
Wanda, we’re living in the most F’d up evil time right now ….humans are truly gross. And, the true innocents (Animals) pay for it with their LIVES
It is cringeworthy, to say the least, when anyone writing or talking about the racing of horses uses the saying about “having a dream” to excuse their organized crimes against people and horses. A person who falls for that line has to be naive.
It is morally depraved that the organizers of organizations such as the HBPA are not protecting horses or vulnerable people from willful and diabolically harmful exploitation. Their so-called “dream” is of more importance to them.
