Through a FOIA request to the Louisiana Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kills on that state’s tracks last year. Please note, however, that the response (as usual) came with this: “The Louisiana Racing Commission does not track or maintain a list of deaths that occur during training hours as those are more often than not handled between the trainer and their private veterinarian.” Neither, of course, did we get stall deaths. So, the victim roll is surely much greater than the 35 reported below.

Since Jan 1, 2014, when Horseracing Wrongs began the unprecedented work of reporting kills in the U.S. horseracing industry, 633 horses have perished on Louisiana tracks (note: LA only gives us racing kills, so the true toll is far, far greater). That’s 633 beautiful, intelligent, sensitive beings sacrificed for nothing more than $2 bets and frivolous entertainment. Are we not better than this, America?

Dr. Lawrence (Larry) Bramlage is the devil in human form. He knows he can make lots of money lying to people and charging fees for his “services” and to hell with being honest and ethical.
He knows that very young and underdeveloped colts and fillies will break down and the rich owners can bring their injured horses to him and the Rood & Riddle veterinary clinic.
It isn’t the despicable humans that have to suffer the excruciating and unbearable pain from the injuries caused by humans forcing their will on the horses.
The Louisiana Racing Commission allows trainers and jockeys who were suspended by HISA in other states to abuse horses at Louisiana racetracks.
Breaking the doping rules? Got suspended? No problem in Louisiana.
Used an illegal electric shocking device on a racehorse? Got suspended? No problem in Louisiana.
I wish America was better than this!
It is just so horrific that there are so many ruthless and disgusting people treating beautiful innocent horses like dirt. Wish all of those worthless people would get those injuries instead
All these 2yo’s again. And people still support Larry Bramlage and his false narrative of starting them young to build bone. 🤦🏼♀️
