The NYS Gaming Commission has belatedly disclosed two kills from December:
Ariana Rye at Belmont Dec 21: “Horse collapsed at 7/8 pole while galloping on training track. NYRA Vet responded and pronounced the filly deceased upon his arrival.” The filly in question was but four – still an adolescent. Collapsed and died.
Iron Love A at Yonkers Dec 5: “Horse suffered apparent cardiac arrest prior to race, pronounced deceased by State Vet.” Iron Love was seven – “apparent cardiac arrest.”
RIP, Ariana Rye and Iron Love A.
What horsemen who claim to love their horses like family and all that crap. Who knows how many drugs and what kind were injected into these horses during their short lives!
Does the New York State Gaming Commission even try to determine whether or not untraceable drugs were used in addition to the every day repetitive stress racehorses are subject to?
