Video of Sweet Rhythm’s Death at Aqueduct

As previously reported, two horses went down at Aqueduct Saturday, with one (for now) confirmed killed. Here is a replay of that murder – a replay, by the way, that the New York Racing Association did not want you to see (video was scrubbed on the NYRA website):

  1. Regarding the ICE raid at Delta Downs in Louisiana, it was reported that Eighty-Four immigrants were detained. However, while this may have disrupted racing operations to some degree, so far it appears that Delta Downs has been operating a full race card on an ongoing basis.
It seems logical that the horses would suffer from a lack of the attention and daily feed and grooming that they would normally receive, but that hasn’t stopped racing there.

  2. Patrick, it is possible that methods to remove immigrant backside workers, and future vigilance to prevent their return, can bring down the entire racing industry. These workers are the literal backbone of racing…and its weakest link.

    Carpe diem ;)

  3. This egregious mistreatment of young and underdeveloped fillies SHOULD NOT be supported by subsidies or a New York State-backed Bond Loan of any amount (but in this case it is $455 Million).
Horses don’t deserve this abuse and brutality!!!!
