In the 5th at Aqueduct yesterday, this for Sweet Rhythm, in the words of the chartwriter:
“Sweet Rhythm struck the side [of the] stall at the start…suffered an injury to the left front leg near the 5/16 and fell heavily at that station, had a rival fall over her directly after, got attended to and vetted and was euthanized on track.”
Struck gate, snapped leg, “fell heavily,” had another horse fall over her, killed where she lay. What an unspeakably terrifying way for this poor, young (two years old) girl to go out. As for her fallen “rival,” Super Dreamy (also two), no update yet. As a postscript, in its write-up, the ethically-challenged Paulick Report closed with this: “The spill-marred fifth race was won by Belarosa, trained by Rudy Rodriguez.” Yes, an “athlete” perished – right there on the “field” – but the reporting, not to mention the rest of the show, goes on. Vile.

RIP, Sweet Rhythm.
What suggestions are there to find any updates on a horse? I have tried to check on one but keep coming up empty.
There’s no need for you to count, Wanda. The Death Toll can always be conveniently found on our homepage (it’s actually at 11,692).
SUPER DREAMY was foaled on May 6, 2023 and sold at auction as a Yearling.
She was breezed in Timed Workouts at Churchill Downs six times. The date of her last Timed Workout was November 2, 2025 at Churchill Downs in Kentucky.
She was raced for her very first time at Aqueduct racetrack in New York on November 8, 2025.
That means she was transported, or as some people say “trafficked”, from KENTUCKY to NEW YORK between the 2nd and the 8th for her very first race only to fall over another fallen filly named SWEET RHYTHM.
The distance from Churchill Downs in Kentucky to Aqueduct racetrack in New York is said to be 771.0 miles according to what I think is a reliable source and takes 11 hours and up to 53 minutes of driving time one way. I don’t know how she was transported/ trafficked from one location to another; if by land or by air. Either way, it would cause anxiety and fear and physical demands on the filly plus expose her to additional illnesses, especially respiratory illnesses.
On the evening of November 8, 2025, I added up the numbers of horses killed by racing that have been verified as killed by racing in the United States. The total was 11,261 horses (verified) killed by racing in the United States since January 1, 2014.
Now with the fatal injury and killing of SWEET RHYTHM, I must assume the total is at least 11,262 and counting.
No word on SUPER DREAMY could mean either she is alive or dead or soon to be dead. For the New York Racing Association to hide the facts in any way, shape, or form makes me assume the worst case scenario unless proven otherwise.
Linda Rice should have been banned from racing for fraud and corruption alone; that is not counting the abuse of horses.
Rudy Rodriguez is also a known low-life in abusing horses for racing.
There should be a law against exploiting two-year-olds as if they were adult horses which is SIX years of age. Horseracing is FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG.
The first five races were on FS2 as part of America’s Day at the Races. After that, something else came on — women’s soccer I think. The entire FS2 show was available on Youtube for a while yesterday and now the whole show is gone. It appears that Thursday and Friday’s shows are still on Youtube in their entirety.
The “spill” was towards the back of the pack and out of the camera view on the FS2 feed. A loose horse comes into view later in the race. The commentators barely had time to mention the accident before the broadcast ended on FS2 and the network went to next program.
Someone else has posted the race on Youtube with a wide angle view — so you can find that if you want to.
Marie, White washing is all this industry is good at! About 10 years ago a prominent breeder in our state of Oregon had a stallion brought here. We saw the horse as he was unloaded from the van. The horse was very ill as was the traveling groom with the the the stallion. Both very sick! Later turned out the horse had strangles!! That horse infected many horse through the NW due to poor lack of isolation. Ours included! Fortunately because we raise our Thoroughbreds 90% outside they were strong & only had some nasal discharge. The truth of the matter only became apparent because of the outbreak being traced. For years horse people visiting the facility would say” sick barn don`t touch anything”!
The use of the word “rival” kills me. As though these poor horses have any animosity or human competitiveness toward their fellow captives. Both horses are victims of the heartless cruelty that is horse racing.
2 days in a row, Aqueduct has had horrifying spills that they have conveniently white-washed and edited out.
This one made the news because 2 big name jockeys fell and had potential injuries. (One was sent to the hospital and one was cleared to ride again). The other- no updates on horses, jockeys, or van offs – and I am trying to figure out how a horse “cow-kicked” another horse’s leg out from under it, causing it to fall, and NOT have that cause some sort of significant injuries! But I have not been able to find anything on that spill.
I am watching my horses peacefully graze currently, and again, all I can think is, I don’t think I have ever seen any horses in a pasture “cow-kick” another horse to the point it fell over. Racing doing what racing does, leave a trail of head-scratching destruction.
