Fred and Joan, I have read articles in the past in the Paulick Report or Thoroughbred Daily News and possibly other racing press publications about jockeys who let up before the wire.
The racing industry seems to be accusing these particular jockeys of possible cheating; maybe they are cheating or maybe they know their mount is weakening.
I also remember reading about D. Wayne Lukas of threatening to send one of the jockeys he hired to ride for him back to Puerto Rico, I believe it was. Why? Because, basically, said jockey did not push the horse in question hard enough all the way to the wire.
The jockeys are easily criticized since they are out in the open on camera but the trainers are in the shadows. When we see a jockey doing something that is obviously “CRUELTY ON STEROIDS” during a race, we should include the trainer for his/her part in this whole despicable organization of criminal abuse of horses and doping/drugs.
Everyone involved in horse racing are morally challenged to stay involved in this inhumane, corrupt, and cruel-to-the-core exploitation of horses. I am glad that you made the decision to get out of the day to day cruelty to horses for racing and gambling.
Wanda, in the rules of racing a jockey has to make all attempts to ensure the “Best Placing” of the horse being ridden. A rider can be fined & penalized for not performing so called “Best efforts”. Stupid rule! No taking account of how the horses are feeling or how tired they maybe. These kinds of rules + the abuses we saw had us quit in 2004. The use of tongue ties is mandated to be shown the ability to perform for a trainers test no matter if you don`t want to use them or not!
Marie, that sounds logical that the whole horrific breakdown was bad enough that they’d want to hide their carnage as much as possible.
That thing where jockeys are penalized somewhat for letting up on their mount before crossing the finish line when the horse is not injured makes me wonder if these jockeys are afraid of not getting mounts even when the horse should be pulled up due to physical injuries to the horse.
I don’t know what the trainers tell these jockeys. It’s all depraved but forcing injured and literally dying horses to keep going is so unbelievably morally depraved! It’s definitely not horsemanship!!!!!
Nancy, it has been shown the shorter the distance, the faster a horse will run & have a MUCH higher likely hood of injury. We feel for all these horses stuck in this industry.
Marie..race 9 he won the race. Bloody nose right after race then blood down his chest. I was able to find the replay. One of these horrid races going 350 yards or whatever. I just don’t get it
I don’t. A civilized country allowing this abuse to play out. It’s just beyond my moral compass to even know this exists. It just breaks my heart every breakdown or incident.
Wanda – my friend saw the breakdown of Madame Senator live on TV. She said it was bad, and that she was trying to run on a broken leg.
I saw the replay of Fine Wine M3, and holy crap. I hope Patrick is able to get the replay of that one! That poor horse was covered in blood, and the jockey kept putzing along on the horse, and the outrider, who rode up along side him, LET HIM. Just par for the course cruelty and destruction in the racing industry.
The property with the privately owned racetrack owned by Ivan Tellez, who was busted for illegal gambling, is located at 27410 Peckham Road in Wilder, Idaho; there is an ‘Active’ listing on Zillow.
The racetrack, which is 800-Yards, is being advertised as “what’s special” about this 24-Acre property along with the 32 stalls, 20 of which have been completed and 12 under construction.

This is criminal. Horses don’t deserve to suffer this much. Horses don’t deserve any of the horrific suffering inflicted on them by the cruel, hard-hearted people involved in this inhumane scammy and scummy racing and gambling industry that relys on and is based on the daily routine mistreatment of horses.
I expect MADAM SENATOR at Charles Town to be dead. The serial killers of horses are hiding the evidence by scrubbing the replay.
I also expect that Los Alamitos would have killed MIRINDA & BONUS TORNADO. Causing fatal injuries to horses is what they do. Causing fatal injuries to horses is who they are. They are serial killers of horses.
