This, according to the NYS Gaming Commission, for Saipan at Saratoga Monday: “Saipan collapsed and deceased after medication administration for pre-race treatment.” Just keeled over and died – at the age of three.

Pre race treatment for what?
If the horse was in need of “treatment” then it follows that he had something wrong. And the next logical question is why was he entered to race if there was something wrong with him.
But those are questions to be put to normal people in normal situations.
Of course, neither apply in the business of racing!
Do these people even consider what they say? Maybe they are so embedded in the subculture of racing their brains don’t function within the norm.
Of course it could have been a pain masking drug or a performance enhancer or God only knows what else!!!!
HISA do your job and investigate!!
(We all know what a waste of time that organization is)
What was the “medication” and who administered this “medication” that caused the death of SAIPAN?
Why do they think it is okay to administer”medication” to a horse as a “pre-race” treatment? Was the horse sick? If not sick, what was the “medication” for? Killing pain? Enhancing performance?
Everything about this disgusting industry of exploiting horses for racing and gambling is seedy and suspect.
