Fall at Retama; “Torrential Downpour” at Delaware

According to the chart for the 6th at Retama yesterday, 3-year-old Flaca No Mas “trailed, fell after wire” and was subsequently ambulanced off the track. Here is how that looked:

At Delaware yesterday, the weather (according to the charts) for the first four races was “cloudy.” In the 5th, however, this: “THE VISIBILITY FOR THE MAJORITY OF THIS RACE WAS OBSCURED BY A TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR.” How pleasant for the horses, huh?

This is horseracing.

  1. Do we need Mishka to tell us that these majestic creatures were bred for the specific purpose of doing face plants in the dirt at a gallop…?!
How morally depraved and cruel to think that this heinous abuse of horses is nothing to speak out against!

  2. Torrential rain? Sounds typical for our old Portland Meadows meet that always raced in the fall & dead of winter. At times the race caller could not see the horses on the backstretch at all. Had to wait until the horses came around down to the homestretch at times. So glad to see our old track gone & replaced by an Amazon warehouse. We & our neighbors receive items from their regularly.
