Next Revolt, Apr 3, Sam Houston T – “injured, euthanized on ambulance”
Mf Tha Second Coming, Apr 23, Sam Houston S – “infection with multiple subcutaneous abscesses – found dead in stall”
This Is Gloria, Apr 26, Sam Houston R – “flipped in paddock hitting hip and tail head, allowed to run, pulled up past wire, vanned off, found dead in stall [next day]; cause: ruptured femoral artery”

We have participated in unlicensed races in 1983. Anything went! 1 horse we rode was hardly able to walk 1 day & the next we could not hardly keep him from running off on the track the next day! Illegal racing is only to common especially with 1/4 horses owned by small owners.
Now that Louisville KY has rescinded their “sanctuary city” designation, ICE could probably shut down Churchill downs ‘ barn area with just one raid.
“Backside death, backside injury” tells you nothing except the horse is dead whether euthanized or just left to die in one of those miserable little stalls, but that’s of no importance, right!!
Euthanized on the so called ambulance which sounds so much better than what it is in reality – a death cart. And imagine forcing a mortally wounded horse to load on to one of those contraptions. How cruel is that!!?
Then you have the horses “found dead in stall” having bled to death from a ruptured artery after being forced to run even though injured; another horse that just died because of “multiple subcutaneous abscesses”; and a horse with diarrhea just died probably from a combination of dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, infection and even malnutrition…reads like a horror story of horse abuse , neglect and indifference to suffering…

Yes, you’re absolutely correct Wanda. Shame we can’t rely on all people in the position to SAVE the voiceless…cannot be relied upon to do the right things.
Regarding the cruelty to horses in particular but especially the practice of soring horses to make them step higher for shows, Sid Miller, the Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture was vocal against the passing of the USDA law to protect horses from soring claiming that it is “government overreach”. What a cruel joke indeed!!!!!
Bonnie, in some cases, in some states, a regulatory veterinarian would have ordered a horse that flips in the paddock to be scratched. I know the abuse and brutality of horses is a given at all the racetracks but once in awhile some horses are Scratched. Not sure about Texas. I think they are proud of their brutality against animals in that state as a whole.
Wanda, we crossed that rubicon ages ago….morality (for protecting horses) There is No Protection of the INNOCENTS(horses) these scumbags will never care about life of the horses. They never have cared…and,never will.It’s a complete joke!
The abuse of these horses is so overwhelmingly egregious that it borders on unregulated racing, in my opinion. It seems as though they have no regulatory veterinarians on the job doing what they are supposed to do.
If there are any regulatory veterinarians at these racetracks in Texas, what are they doing?
Is it standard procedure to look the other way while horses are subject to a degree of abuse and brutality that is socially unacceptable to most people who have some degree of compassion for horses?
This vomit worthy level of abuse of horses should get Lone Star and Sam Houston racetracks shut down!
