The following horses were injured in U.S. races last week and had to be removed from the track by “equine ambulance.” While fates remain unknown at this time, we will eventually get death confirmations on many, if not most, through our FOIA reporting. Note, also, that “bled” is shorthand for pulmonary hemorrhage – bleeding in the lungs.

Thank you, Fred and Joan.
RIP
Does anyone else notice the color of the horse’s tongue with the tongue tie in the picture above? It looks purple-ish to me. The list of things ‘wrong with this picture’ and horseracing itself are neverending.
Thank you, Fred and Joan. I can only wonder what drugs have been injected into the horse in the picture above as well.
Also, who knows the full extent of internal injuries the daily routine repetitive stress and stress remodeling has done to this horse???
Who knows if the horse breaks down in the forthcoming race?
Just that picture above says 1000 words! The Thoroughbred horses we have have NEVER been twitched or lip chained in their entire lives! We have had to have done some major stitching work 1 time after a gelding ran to close to tree branch. He is now 20. We have our own effective, painless, cruelty free way of distraction for enabling a veterinarian to sedate a horse needing vet work. The use of such cruel methods as shown above are 1 of many major reasons we left the track industry in the fall of 2004 & will never attend or participate in racing again.
It’s sickening that they call it training and racing and also “stress remodeling” but it is daily routine abuse of horses. They know that what they do to horses is breaking them down.
Anyone who thinks the degenerate killers of horses deserve sympathy are as bad as the killers themselves.
