According to the chart, San Lorenzo Legacy “won” his race at Delta Saturday, then “fell after the wire,” and was subsequently “transported [off the track] by ambulance.” Here is a brief shot of the two-year-old as he struggled to stay upright. While I won’t know for sure till the FOIA, you can probably guess the outcome.
Same day at Lone Star, Jed, said the chartwriter, “fell and was vanned off.” Here is the beginning of that fall. Again, looks like a breakdown to me…

It depends on how far out the euthanasia occurs and also on the reporting from the trainer to the track/racing commission. Short answer, no question that many of the vanned who are later euthanized do not show up in the official data.
If they list them as “vanned off”, and are later euthanized, are they being counted as track deaths, or is this a way for the officials to hide the true numbers of track deaths?…
Dreadful.
