I agree with you, Nancy, that it would take a miracle. It doesn’t sound logical that the horses just go back to the barn as if it was just another day at the office. 🙄
I found the replay for the race involving Rebel Red and Tapit Shoes. They claim the horses returned to the barn after the incident. If Rebel Red survived the fall it would take a miracle.
Gary Stevens said in an article in Horse Racing Nation that the jockey thrown from REBEL RED in a race at Churchill Downs on Saturday night, May 17, 2025, has two fractured vertebrae in his back and a chip on one vertebra in his neck and that he will be back riding by July 3rd. That sounds like a fairy tale to me.
Four weeks in a neck brace and two weeks of rehab for Declan Cannon and he will supposedly be ready to ride at Ellis Park by July 3, 2025. That just doesn’t seem realistic. It isn’t just the bones that have to heal. It’s also the muscles that get all spasmed out of whack and they don’t snap back like a rubber band.
Supposedly the horses involved in the wreck were sent back to their stalls.
Cruel, abusive animal abuse made legal for fame and fortune at the expense and pain of so many of these horses that are to young to even be riden. How can this be allowed ?
For the love of money, not horses, people continue to participate in this cruel so-called sport.
