Through a FOIA request to the Dept. of Agriculture, I was able to confirm the following deaths in Maine last year.
El Jacko, Apr 27, Cumberland R
“At 5/8 pole horse was visibly in distress. Driver continued with El Jacko, finishing [the race]. After entering the paddock, El Jacko collapsed. Vet was quickly on scene but unfortunately El Jacko passed moments after collapsing. Postmortem findings are consistent with exercise-associated fatal pulmonary hemorrhage, a known cause of sudden death during strenuous exercise.” The necropsy, by the way, also termed El Jacko’s a “natural death.” He was 11 years old, what should still be the prime of life for a horse.

From the attending vet: “Horse was found last night acutely colicking [and] continued to be painful after banamine administration. Fluids were started…and the horse’s condition declined. Further testing was done, and it was discovered that the horse had ruptured some part of his intestinal tract. Horse was humanely euthanized.” N Expense was 13 years old and had last been raced 10 days prior. A horrible life. A horrible death.
“Died in paddock by euthanasia” tells us absolutely nothing. The horse was dying before the euthanasia. From what?? These people have perfected the art of obfuscation.
El Jacko`s death was anything but natural!! Upon 1st noticing difficulty in traveling that driver should have immediately pulled up the horse & had him checked out. Better yet not to have raced him at all in this “crooked, Crummy, Gamboling Game”.
Is this their PSYCHOPATHIC twist on killing a horse to say that a horse died a “natural death” by Exercise Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage, because they killed the horse in an INHUMANE way instead of by so-called “humane euthanasia”?
It’s “natural” for a horse to die of relentless abuse by racing them to death. It’s a no-brainer that these lowlife people would show their lack of spine as if nobody could see through their disgusting human filth.
