Through a FOIA request to the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kills at that state’s two tracks last year (this is part 2; part 1 here).

Seven Anns, Aug 8, Horseshoe T
“RF fracture.” Seven Anns was two years old and coming off her first race.

Great Decision, Aug 17, Horseshoe R
“Pastern fracture.” Great Decision was two years old, and this was her very first race.

Hf Kiss This, Sep 25, Horseshoe R
“Collapsed after wire – pulmonary hemorrhage – sudden death.” Hf was two years old.

Mama’s the Cause, Oct 9, Horseshoe R
“[Multiple] fractures.” Mama’s was two years old.

Extra Halo, Oct 28, Horseshoe S

Color of Victory, Nov 25, Horseshoe T
“Fetlock fracture.” Color was three years old. Prior to dying, she had been raced a total of six times (starting in June). She was a “DNF” in her first race; in those last five, she finished last four times and second-to-last once – a combined 89+ lengths back.

  1. Wee Sherry, the jockey you brought to our attention knows nothing about horsemanship. It is their extreme insensitivity to horses that separates these greedy fools from anything remotely resembling horsemanship.

  2. Heads Up, everyone, I stumbled upon the latest video interview as conducted by Ferrin Peterson (hostess/interviewer, jockey/vet). The interview title: The Blue Collar Jockey, Perry Ouzts

Mr. Ouzts is 70 years of age and been around horses for over 50 years and in that span of time he didn’t learn much about horses. For instance, good riders are instructed by authentic horsemen not to abuse a horse with the whip especially when the mount is giving the rider all he/or she has in the heart tank, “don’t go to the whip”. Mucksacks never absorb this wisdom. Only mediocre jockeys violate this principle of horsemanship and are held in contempt by trainers born and raised within the horse racing fraternity.

Mr. Ouzts retrieved a memory of how he was “getting into hot and heavy whipping and the horse reacted. He wound up going overboard wherein Ms. Ferrin announced: “Bet you taught him!” Ms. Ferrin displays an appalling attitude of getting even with horses. Horses like children are to be treated with patience, gentleness and understanding. They are not mere objects to destroy emotionally and physically.

Jockey Ouzts kept on going with the story. He elucidated on how he advised a fellow jock on how to ride the abused horse: “Don’t be hitting left handed that hard…cuz he’ll take it for a while, but he finally said that’s enough…he swerved on me.” That’s when the Mr. Ouzts was outwitted by the smartness of his mount.

It is sad and tragic that some people never really learn how horses are extremely intelligent….horses are smart enough to pick the moment to do equine justice. Apprentices or journeymen riders, it doesn’t make a difference to an educated thoroughbred….they bide their time and they do get even! Reference is made to “beat and knock on ’em.” Jockey Ouzts also discloses how jockeys agents are “Sleazy”. Overall, this interview doesn’t build any respect for those who profess to love horses or in any way defeats the immoralities of horse racing which in total is destroying horses for the blood and grime of profit.

This series of interviews is a monumental public relations failure. They tried to suppress the truth, but as the ancient Greeks sagely observed: “Truth comes in on the arm of time….and indeed truth does prevail in horse racing despite all the lies and cruelties, truth is prevailing the gangsters who control the industry. I am hurt every day by people who say they love horses, but their defense of the sport is intolerable.

My family has held every position in horse racing except the Stewards Office, Race Announcer, Clerk of the Scales, Jock’s Room Custodian, Starter…it breaks my heart to see the deterioration of a once glorious sport invaded and ruined by the filthy and the evil.

  3. Calvinism might apply to some of these people in horseracing. Some people believe that there are a certain number of souls selected by God, that they are “predestined” and that there is nothing anyone can do to change this “predestination”.
I personally believe that the idea that certain individuals “can do no wrong” is hideously flawed thinking, an incorrect belief, a false doctrine.
Some individual people think they are “the chosen one” and operate as though they have no conscience of right or wrong; as though they are above any law. 😬

  4. I am so ashamed of the people who currently hold licenses to be in the company of a horse and who are so unworthy of that beautiful and wonderful privilege. The reason(s) horses are dying at 2 years of age is due to the lethal concoctions pumped into their systems for example:

Albuterol (Side Effects): Dizziness, breathing problems, chest pains, irregular heart beats, confusion, rapid breathing. Imagine the terror a horse feels with these symptoms raging in his/her body and mind.

Clenbuterol – Anxiety, shaking, headaches, raised body temperature, heart problems, atrial fibrillation, rapid beats leads to cardiac hypertrophy.

Zilpaterol – colitis, seizures, neurologic abnormalities, tremors, etc. etc.

Every person who holds a license or who had the wonderful privilege of being around race horses is indebted to them and they have the moral duty and responsibility to protect horses from the lethal barns of killer trainers. Anyone, (I don’t care how famous), who keeps their mouths shut and refuse to condemn horse racing as it is being conducted in these immoral times is not only betraying the horses, but is also guilty of rebellion against God’s laws of compassion and sympathy.

The riders of yesteryear who do not protect horses from the crimes of drug abuse and felonious assaults against the health and well-being of race horses deserve to be shunned in their home towns and given no respect (no matter how many trophies they’ve won). The Race Track Chaplains, the Hall of Famers (trainers, jocks, owners, breeders) are all guilty of Treason Against God and His Laws of Compassion and Justice.

11,004 deaths are overwhelming evidence that all race track operators be charged with Moral Turpitude and held accountable for the deaths that have occurred at race tracks across the U.S. American law recognizes Animal Cruelty as cause for legal action under the classification of “Moral Turpitude.” Any crime that shocks and outrages the public conscience, that contradict and opposes existing laws of compassion, that are morally reprehensible, carried out as intentional evil, is maliciously wicked, vile, and immeasurably repugnant.

These fatalities are happening because Federal and Local Attorney Generals are not performing their obligations to uphold and maintain existing laws that safeguard and protect the health and well being of American principals and integrities. Time to put the heat on those who too lazy, too inept or too immoral to be licensed to practice law in any locale on earth. Time for citizens to take back what our ancestors bequeathed to us which is Law and Order based on fact and reality. Only the cowards sit in rocking chairs remembering their glory days in the saddle, true horsemen/women get out and fight to save horses from the savagery of Baffert, D. Wayne Lukas, et al. Time to close down the Sinner’s Circle” permanently.

Challenge: Pat Day and any member of the Racetrack Chaplaincy of America: Name the date and place and I will personally come and tell you to your faces and show you how you are violating God’s principals and commands, come on out big boys and lets see how gutsy you are when dealing with someone who actually reads and understands God’s Rules and Regulations. P.S. I was at Hialeah when you visited that track for Easter Services you may have been sincere then, but you are not fit to speak the name thoroughbred never mind be in their company.

  5. Many of these names for horses are repugnant as well. No decent names? Sad that such young horses never had a decent life! Eliminate all subsidies for this “Crooked,Crummy, Gamboling Game & stop this carnage to beautiful horses.

  6. Only the morally depraved would abuse young horses on a daily routine basis. Only the morally depraved would not think twice about causing fatal injuries to equine babies.
In case anyone who supports horse racing missed it: The Daily Racing Form defines “Baby race” as a race for 2-year-olds.
