Through a FOIA request to the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following kills at that state’s two tracks thus far this year.
Bolts Babe, Feb 17, Horseshoe S
“accident/injury – marked subcutaneous and muscular hemorrhage all limbs”
Exemplified, May 2, Horseshoe T
“sudden death: severe exercise-associated pulmonary hemorrhage” (four years old)
Uncle Harry, May 9, Horseshoe T
“sudden death: exercise-associated pulmonary hemorrhage” (four years old)
Lickcreek Molly, May 16, Hoosier T
“traumatic fall: pelvic fracture, femoral head fracture”

The racing industry people are said to be struggling with their “social license to operate” and they are proving over and over that they should lose their social license to operate.
Horse racing is inherently cruel no matter how the racing industry press “spin doctors” attempt to make it sound “majestic” or socially acceptable in any way.
