PA: And 34 More Makes 68 (Kills, That Is)

Through a FOIA request to the PA Dept. of Agriculture, I have confirmed the following kills at that state’s tracks last year (this is part 2; part 1 here). As always, the response came with this: “PDA has withheld records related to necropsy reports as they are exempt from disclosure by law.” So, detail is lacking (I have supplemented with chart notes where possible).

  1. “A shining light” an oxymoron if there was ever one! That report has not shed any real light for quite some time. All RX should be removed from all equine activities! We don`t allow any of our horses or ourselves to have pain med.s for any length of time. Pain is the bodies way of telling you there`s a problem that needs care & attention.

  2. It is truly outrageous and alarming that “what is happening” in our government and in horseracing is allowed to continue.
It is also somewhat ironic that the racing industry publication called The Paulick Report labels itself as “Shining a Light on the Equine Industry” which excludes most of the different breeds of horses and equestrian disciplines.
This publication occasionally shines a light on the dark underbelly of the inherent cruelty of exploiting horses for racing and Pari-mutuel gambling, but never advocates THE END of this dark underbelly of Business Misconduct and Animal Cruelty to horses. [Okay, just whitewash it and let’s move on to the next horse to bet on. Sick.]

  3. Patrick, and friends who oppose murdering horses for profit:

In addition to the distressing news of the above victims comes the account of a decision rendered against 2 men as featured in the Paulick Report under the headline: HIWU/Owner/Trainer suspended 18 months for ‘Prohibited Association’.

These evil incarnates have a vicious history of administering drugs Dexamethasone and Levothyroxis and these morally depraved men are not banished from racing forever????? Dex is a violent drug which changes moods, alters vision, causes confusion and excitement (is it any wonder so many horses are having problems at the gate these days and are dying in the paddock, in the race, etc. etc.). Additionally, Dex induces eye pain and stomach problems! Levo causes heart attacks and hallucinations to name only 2 of its side effects.

18 months suspension, why are these wicked fiends treated so tenderly for the crimes that are too despicable to measure? It is indefensible that there is no flaming editorials from the editors of the horse racing publications, no expressions of wrath from the animal rights lawyers…..it should be no leniency for first time offenders….justice must prevail and the ruling should be lifetime suspension. Consider, if we do not stop the brutality of drugs being used on horses what will stop the pharmaceutical corporations from killing off entire countries with these abominable drugs? Indeed are thoroughbreds being used for this purpose? Instead of armed warfare nations will resort to lethal drugs?

Any drug that causes these reactions should not be marketed – they are designed not to heal but to do the savagery of legalized murder. And, when the horse racing industry treats savage offenders with such small penalties something is definitely wrong not only in America but in all the nations of the world where horse racing is considered a business rather than what it truly is Monstrous Crime.
