The 9th race at Laurel yesterday, in the words of the chartwriter: “Ganado sustained a catastrophic injury in upper stretch, was euthanized on the turf course then transported off by the equine ambulance.” That last part, presumably, was added for those who might be wondering how they were able to remove a 1,000-pound dead body from the field of play so the action could continue. Vile. Ganado was four years old. The complicit: breeder White Birch Farm, owner Gokmen Kaya, trainer Jonathan Maldonado, jockey Jevian Toledo, and all those who support – betting, attending, watching, working in, etc. – the U.S. horseracing industry.

There’s already been multiple awful falls and a horse literally crashed through a wing, and that’s just 3 races in
Marie, I don’t know anything about Genesee but I will snoop around and see what I can find out.
Nancy- still curious what the NSA will update about last weekends shit show at Genesee.
An eye witness said there was a fatality, though they were unsure if it was Johnny Swish (most likely) or another horse in the race. Let’s see if the NSA actually admits to the fatality.
They have done a bang up job of being as vague as possible this year on injuries and deaths.
Today is the hurdle Grand National at Far Hills NJ. The big names in this event(which have been covered here numerous times for their opinions) are sending out their horses for this barbaric sport. The people who sponsor this event make sure it is cast as a fun filled family event for all ages. We can only hope that all the horses will finish on all fours without injury.
