“Catastrophic Injury,” Dead at Thistledown

It’s About Time, says the chartwriter, “suffered a catastrophic injury nearing the 16th marker, unseated his rider, and was euthanized.” He was three years old; ’twas his fifth time under the whip. Complicit in the kill: breeder Ben Taylor, owner Blazing Meadows Farm, trainer Timothy Hamm, jockey Rocco Bowen, and all those who support the U.S. horseracing industry in any way – betting, attending, watching, working in, etc.

  1. JACK Thistledown Casino is open 24 hours a day. I can’t imagine being so obviously disconnected to what is going on at the racetrack and the barns where the horses are kept confined to stalls for 23 hours a day and, as if that isn’t torture enough for the horses, forced to be disposable gambling chips by being whipped around the racetrack for gambling entertainment. It’s a crying shame and ignorance cannot be an excuse. It’s mostly common sense about the Animal Cruelty regardless of how the industry stakeholders glorify their deplorable exploitation of horses.
