Belmont Park is being renovated (with taxpayer dollars, of course), and while racing is on hold, they are still training, stalling – and killing – horses there. Yesterday, according to the Gaming Commission, this for Veterans Beach: “During the conclusion of a breeze, horse was pulled up by an apparent injury. Veterinarians concluded to euthanize horse on track due to the nature of the injury.” Veterans was eight years old.
The day before, Eirik Ridge was euthanized at Belmont for a “severe cecal impaction.” Eirik was four and had last been raced Aug 30 at Saratoga.

When we we`re active participants in racing we always felt sorry for the goats stabled at the tracks. Overfed with way too much high sugar feeds & bad diets with inadequate forage available. Many we saw passed early from such poor care.
This renovation of Belmont is such a terrible waste of taxpayers $$! Those funds should be used to improve the local areas economy & housing & education facilities.
ny….in my opinion,is the WORST piece of shit. I will NEVER forgive them.
I see Belmont execs are still using some of their more eloquent barn goats to write these death reports for the Gaming Commission. (You’d think with all their newfound cash, they could finally afford to pay an actual, literate human to do the job, but, nah.)
It shows what they think of their horses.
