6th Kill at Pleasanton Since Golden Gate Closed

The first official kill has been recorded at the newly-christened “Pleasanton Golden State Racing.” Yesterday, says the CHRB, Candy On Top broke down and was euthanized. She was five and had been put to the whip 27 times, all in California. Pleasanton GS Racing is the NorCal horsemen’s hope for racing in that part of the state to continue in the wake of Golden Gate Fields closing in June. Pleasanton – just plain Pleasanton, but the same track of course – has now notched six kills since GG closed.

  1. How much money is the State of California spending to keep this horse racing thing going for Northern California via the government-funded county fairs???

  2. We once thought of buying/ selling horses at Pleasanton. They only provided temp. portable stalls with plastic walls! Same with roofs. Any kind of wind at all & their would have been constant alarming fear in most horses point of view. Also very hot area as well. Since this is we believe a publicly owned facility It may be some time before it`s stopped operating sadly.
