Thistledown Again: “Catastrophic Injury, Fell, Euthanized”

A chart note from Thistledown: “suffered a catastrophic injury, fell and was euthanized.” But Patrick, you may be thinking, you told us about this yesterday morning. Indeed I did, about Chargina in Tuesday’s action. But this, folks, is a new one, another one the exact same way from yesterday. The victim: a 4-year-old filly named Brownie. Kills on the field of play on back-to-back days. A “sport”? Only to the willfully ignorant. (Another horse, Crossed Up, “fell over the fallen rival” and did not finish. I will update on her.)

  1. Exactly, Marie. “Nice” of the racing industry press to report that another jockey was sent to the hospital…
    (It’s like “Who cares?” that a horse was used and abused and injured in the name of a so-called sport where people “dream” about being somehow connected to the winning horse.)

  2. And only made the news again because the jockey was again sent to the hospital. Otherwise, Brownie would have been a no-name, insignificant blip among many.
