According to the chart for the 5th at Prairie Meadows Sunday, 3-year-old Rita’s Revenge was a simple vet scratch. However, I have learned it was much more. An eyewitness who contacted me says that prior to the race, “The horse flipped [backward] on concrete, bled from her head, had a seizure, then passed in the holding stalls.” That poor girl.

Prairie Meadows Casino, Racetrack & Hotel is how this place is listed. Without the casino, the racetrack might have been shuttered by now. It’s a disgusting and despicable thing to use horses as gambling chips and treat them as though they were used cars. Horses deserve so much better treatment than this.
